Retirement planning

Although retirement may seem to be a distant dream, this does not mean that you have all the time in the world to prepare for it. In fact, the earlier you plan for it, the better your chances of fully enjoying your retirement.

On the other hand, if retirement for you is fast approaching, it is never too late to evaluate or even re-evaluate your situation so as to redirect if necessary. Have you saved up enough throughout the years to accomplish all you had planned?

The RRIF

The registered retirement income fund is a step which consists in converting your accumulated RRSPs into ongoing income. You must make this conversion before December 31 of the year in which you will celebrate your 71st birthday.

If managing these types of formalities is not your cup of tea, there exist self-directed RRIFs. These do not direct themselves, as their name would suggest, but they allow you to work with a financial advisor and benefit from his or her advice.
